This expansive 1980s condo on Toronto’s Harbourfront was in need of a complete transformation. Its dated, choppy layout was cluttered with unnecessary walls that disrupted the flow and failed to enhance the home's coziness. Inspired by the breathtaking, wall-to-wall windows and unobstructed lake views, we reimagined the main living area to ensure a seamless visual connection to the water from every corner of the home.
What was once a bland, beige-and-white condo is now a warm, wood-clad sanctuary—an elegant fusion of the client’s Chinese heritage and the serene principles of Japandi design. Prioritizing a deeply personal and bespoke approach over conventional resale considerations, we collaborated closely with the client to craft a space tailored to his lifestyle.
In an unconventional move, we removed a bathroom—something we rarely do—in favor of a spacious front hall closet, better suited to our bachelor client’s extensive coat and shoe collection. Similarly, we eliminated the second bedroom’s closet to extend the primary walk-in closet, transforming it into a luxurious, light-filled space that stretches the entire length of the room, all the way to the windows. The primary ensuite was also expanded, doubling in size to accommodate additional storage, a larger shower, and a freestanding soaker tub.
The result: a tranquil, minimalist retreat, 12 stories above the city—an oasis of calm and sophistication with an uninterrupted connection to nature.
