Sewickley (Coming Soon)

In Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Isabel transformed her and her husband Rich Clune’s 1915 Colonial Revival home into a deeply personal reflection of the life they have built together; one rooted in creativity, hospitality, history, and family. Drawn to the charming, storybook character of Sewickley after Rich’s coaching career with the Pittsburgh Penguins brought them to Western Pennsylvania, the couple embraced the town’s nostalgic small-town atmosphere and surrounding countryside as inspiration for the renovation. The home was carefully restored to celebrate its original architectural character and unique historic detailing while being thoughtfully adapted for modern living through furniture layout, spatial flow, and a layered approach to living. Throughout the interiors, color acts as an architectural language, with soft pinks and muted blues forming a calming foundation accented by saturated reds, buttery yellows, and country greens that shift gently in Pittsburgh’s softer natural light. Influenced by the region’s rolling landscape, changing seasons, and historic homes, the palette is both grounded and atmospheric. Pattern and wallpaper were equally integral to the design narrative, used to create intimacy, rhythm, and personality throughout the home. From tailored traditional stripes to whimsical, unexpected motifs, layered patterns bring a sense of collected warmth and reinforce the home’s balance of classicism with playful individuality.

As the personal home of Isabel Clune Design, the project also embodies Isabel’s signature philosophy of “restrained maximalism”; an irreverent yet refined balance of traditional and modern design layered with traveled inspiration, artistic eccentricity, and strong architectural foundations. Filled with art, music, collected objects, and spaces designed for gathering, the home reflects the couple’s shared love of entertaining and creating environments that feel emotionally layered yet highly livable. Classical millwork and historic details sit comfortably alongside unexpected color pairings, vintage influences, contemporary art, and playful moments of contrast, resulting in interiors that feel timeless, expressive, and unmistakably personal.
