This original cottage-style home, nestled in the famous Flower Streets of Corona del Mar in Newport Beach was not fully serving the client's needs. The upper level, though structurally sound, had never been thoughtfully designed and remained an underutilized blank slate.
While embracing the airy, coastal aesthetic of classic California homes, we introduced a fresh perspective by incorporating warm brass accents, soft colors, and richly grained woods. Drawing inspiration from the home's proximity to the beach, we chose a custom muted green, draping floral mural wallpaper in the bathroom, pairing it with mixed chrome and brass metals for an unexpected touch of edginess. The coastal spirit continues in the hallway, where a jute runner and linen drapery set a relaxed tone, complemented by sharp-edged brass lighting and an organically curved brass mirror for a refined contrast.
The true showstopper is the yoga room. Previously a rarely used guest bedroom, we reimagined it as a serene home yoga studio tailored to the client's passion for wellness. A custom Murphy bed, doubling as an art feature when folded away, allows the space to function seamlessly for both yoga and relaxation. Adding a very personal touch, Isabel created art of the client doing some of her favorite yoga poses, which we showcased on the main wall. To enhance the room’s energy, we enveloped it in a rich, sun-drenched yellow paint, while the interior of the Murphy bed reveals a calming, ocean-inspired muted blue—creating a harmonious and inspiring sanctuary for movement and meditation.
